

Born on March 1, 1947, in Bipis, Indiana, Janet lived a life filled with music, devotion to education, and deep love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Deal, and her mother, Almira (Cooper) Deal.
Janet is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Rudolph Kunzelman; her stepson, Randy Kunzelmann; and her brother, David Deal. She cherished her family dearly, holding each relationship close to her heart.
A dedicated and gifted educator, Janet spent her career as a grade school music teacher, inspiring countless young students to discover joy and expression through music. She was particularly known for her exceptional talent on the oboe—a skill she carried with grace, precision, and passion throughout her life.
Janet pursued her love of music through higher education, earning her undergraduate degree from Ball State University and later completing her master’s degree at Williams College. Her academic accomplishments reflected her lifelong commitment to learning and the arts.
Janet will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her musical brilliance, and the warmth she shared so generously with those around her. Her legacy lives on in the many students she influenced, the family she cherished, and the music she brought into the world.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a music education charity of your choice, honoring her enduring belief in the power of music to uplift and inspire.
