It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Michael Skaling, who left us on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 73. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. A man whose presence could brighten even the heaviest of days.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, with whom he shared a love both resilient and tender. Together they weathered life’s storms and celebrated its joys, always choosing one another. Their marriage stands as a true testament to commitment, grace, and a love that never let go.
He leaves behind his two children, Jason (wife Melanie) and Shawna (husband Ryan), and his four loved grandchildren; Alyssa, Hailey, Joshua, and Reese. Each one a source of pride and light in his life.
Those who knew John will always remember his big heart. He was kind in a steady, simple way, always willing to help others and never making a fuss about it. His generosity showed up in the everyday moments, the small things he did without thinking twice. John never met a stranger; he treated everyone like a friend and made people feel welcome wherever he went.
A lifelong athlete and dedicated softball player, John was still out on the field just months before his cancer diagnosis, playing the game he loved. Cancer may have taken him from us far too soon, but it could never take away the laughter, strength, and love he shared with everyone around him.
John had a gift for touching souls. Even in his final days, nurses and caregivers found themselves smiling at his humor, sometimes sweet, sometimes mischievous. John was never far from having a joke ready. He brought warmth, light, and levity wherever he went.
Above all else, John was a good man. A man who loved deeply, served quietly, and remained humble through every chapter of his life. We will miss him; Dad, Daddy, Papa more than words could ever hope to express.
His memory will live on in every story told, every act of kindness inspired by his example, and in the countless lives he touched simply by being who he was. We will carry him with us, always.
