Obituary of John Edgar Such
IN THE CARE OF

Surprise Funeral Care

John Edgar Such, age 88, passed away on June 27, 2026. Born on September 6, 1937, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, John was a beloved and cherished presence in the lives of many, remembered for a kind-hearted spirit, a caring nature, and the steady diligence of a hard-working man who approached life with purpose and order. He resided in Surprise, Arizona.

John was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, to his loving parents, John and Laura Such. As the eldest sibling, he shared his childhood with one brother and two sisters, forming bonds that would remain meaningful throughout his life. After graduating high school, he went on to earn an associate’s degree, reflecting the practical determination and organized mindset that would guide him in the years ahead.

John built a distinguished career in the airline industry, serving as Vice President of Sales. In that role, he was known for the reliability and conscientious effort that defined his work—qualities that earned respect from colleagues and helped shape a legacy of professionalism.

At 19 years old, John met the love of his life, Sally, in Cleveland, Ohio. Their story began while working for Capital Airlines while they were in airline school, where a foundation of love took root and grew into a marriage and a family. Together they raised three children—two daughters and a son—creating a home marked by devotion, care, and the quiet strength of someone deeply committed to those he loved.

John found joy in the simple, enduring pleasures of time well spent: golfing, bowling, family gatherings, and being with friends. His dedication and steady focus showed in the things he loved—he once bowled a perfect 300 even in his 80s, and he achieved two holes-in-one, each a testament to patience, consistency, skill and a lot of luck!

In his community, John’s commitment was both generous and substantial. He was heavily involved at Sun City Grand, serving as president of the board and also as a member of the original board with Del Webb members. In these roles, he brought thoughtful structure, dependable leadership, and a sincere desire to contribute—qualities that made him not only respected, but truly valued.

John leaves his memory in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, distant relatives, friends, colleagues, and neighbors—all of whom cherished knowing him. His life will be remembered with gratitude and respect, and his absence will be felt by all who were fortunate to share in his steady kindness and enduring care.
