HIGDON, Julius C., 77, passed away on March 31, 2018. Julius was born in Rodney, Mississippi, to Mitchell and Ravella Higdon on August 30, 1940. He attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Central Michigan University with a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice. Julius was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He married Annie Ford on February 19, 1966 in Detroit Michigan. His career was with the Detroit Police Department, where he earned several promotions and awards and retired as a Commander after 35 years of service. Julius had a passion for playing pinochle. He was an excellent player and could take on the best. Julius was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Ravella Higdon, his sister Alice Brown, and his grandson Alex Higdon. He is survived by his beloved wife Annie, his son Jeff and his wife Angie, and granddaughter Krysta; his son Keith and his wife Pamela, and his granddaughter Kiera; and great-granddaughter Zoe; his sister L.T. Hurley and her husband Richard; his brother Oscar Higdon; and his sister Taryn Foreman and her husband Walter; and his brother-in-law Elton Brown; numerous nieces nephews, cousins, and family friends. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 04, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W. Bell Road, Surprise, Arizona. A Service of Memory will begin at 11:00 AM. The Committal Service, with a United States Air Force Honors Ceremony will be held at 1:30 PM, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona.
