Born July 11, 1947, in Aberdeen, SD she was the daughter of C. Byron Deffenbaugh and Inez (Anderson) Deffenbaugh.
She met her husband, Roger, in a chance meeting when she delivered a convertible to a high school parade. They were married on February 2, 1969 in Warner, SD and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary in the Caribbean. They Settled in Warner and raised two children, Paul and Lisa. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD and the Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church in Surprise, AZ.
Lana’s passion for collecting antiques continued past her retirement in 2011 after they moved to Arizona. She had numerous collections including red glassware, birds, cookbooks, and cribbage boards to name a few. Many of the collections were used to decorate her home and she enjoyed decorating for the holidays Lana enjoyed traveling and as they traveled to visit state capitals the collections would grow. During her travels, she made sure to attend, either in person or on the internet the grandchildren’s activities. This frequent travel also allowed her and Roger to connect with many relatives and friends around the country. During her time in Arizona, she enjoyed playing cards, the putters club, shopping, and spending time with her friends.
Lana is survived by her husband, Roger, her children: Paul (Brenda) Rozell of Aberdeen, SD and Lisa (Tony) Rae of Pierre, SD; Grandchildren: Carly, Ashley and Tyler Rozell, Stephen, Chris, and Ragan Rae; Sister-in-law Aly Holler and Aberdeen, SD, Darlyne Rozell of Huron, SD and brother-in-law Don Kalt of Aberdeen, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Denie kalt, brother-in-law Harlow Holler, and brother-in-law Warren Rozell.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Lana may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or The Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church.
