SAIKIN, Laurie Ann, passed away April 30, 2018. She was the beloved wife, friend, and companion to Eric Saikin for nearly 50 years. Laurie was born September 19, 1949 in Washington D.C. to Robert and Betty Alston. She is survived by her son Ethan, daughter-in-law Devora and beloved granddaughter Eden Pearl Saikin, as well as her husband Eric. She was an award winning multi-media artist who was very creative and innovative in her designs and creations. Her son said, “You could give her a Kleenex, a rusty nail, and an empty beer can and she would make you a piece of jewelry you would be proud to wear.” She loved to travel and had been to 49 of the 50 states and was always willing to go to new places and see new things. She loved to tell people she was ready “to go to the opening of an envelope!” She had a great passion for baseball and in addition to being a regular at Diamondback games she had been to games at most other major league baseball stadiums. She worked for the Navy as a contract negotiator, and later as an administrator for various weapons programs for over 20 years. Laurie was a joy to her family and they were blessed to have her in their lives; she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 10 am at Temple Beth Shalom 12202 N. 101st Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351, followed by burial at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to the Human Rights Campaign. https://www.hrc.org.
