Linda Mae Portis

Linda Mae Portis, resident of Peoria, Arizona and formerly of Springfield, Ohio returned to the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2025. She was born in the spring on May 30th, 1952 in Springfield, Ohio. She is the daughter of loving parents James C. and Lula (Morris) Johnson.

She was loved for her caring demeanor, heartwarming love for others, her humor, and her love for the color red. Her genuine kindness and considerate way of being led her to a medical career where her heart of gold shined in the care of her patients. Linda was affectionately known to be the mother of her neighborhood and community, constantly keeping close care of anyone she met as if they were her own children or family. She loved playing cards, traveling, and gardening. She will be truly missed and continue to be cherished in the hearts of all that have the privilege of knowing her.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph “Sonny” Portis; daughter, Stephanie Johnson and a grandson, Princeston Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Felicia (Ron) Davis; son-in-law, Gregory Sutton Sr; her sister, Shirley Harper; two brothers, George (Bridget) Johnson and John S. Johnson; three grandchildren, Ashley (Corey)Miles, Latoya Johnson and Lauren Walden; ten great grandchildren and a special niece, Anyah Harris and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is Friday, November 7, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. in Greater First Baptist Church located at 1175 Upper Valley Pike, Springfield, Ohio 45504. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery located at 501 W McCreight Ave Springfield, Ohio 45504.
