Dear Greg and Jeff.
I am so very sorry to hear about your Mom.   I had the honor of working with her over 30 years ago.    She was always the leader in her department who helped everyone else figure out the job at hand.  She was smart, stylish, and a had a GREAT sense of humor.   She really loved her boys, and her Carl.  We would make time each day to visit each others office.   I had some of the BEST laughs with her and even though she was ahead of me in years, we were a kindred spirit.   I will miss our annual Christmas calls, but will always think of her as the FUN, full of life, fashionista who was way ahead of her time.  I'd like to think that  her and Carl  are  up there having a "cocktail" together with all her old friends and family.   Marilyn, I am SO glad I met you and may you rest in peace.   Godspeed. From pumpkin patches to shopping trips and fancy steak dinners to sharing an Applebee’s 2 for $20, I cherish the time I had with you, but I’m grateful that your pain has ended, and you’ve been reunited once again with your other half. I miss you both immensely. 

Mrs. Anderson was a wonderful person.

The first time that I accompanied Jeff to visit his parents in AZ….she was kind enough to open her heart and home to me. I was welcomed into the family with a genuine kindness that put me completely at ease.

I know that she is in a better place and with people that love her just as much as we do.

Marilyn was my dear cousin and I am so fond of all the memories we shared.  She was gracious, kind, and so loved her dear husband, Carl.  The last time I saw her was when I spent the night  with Marilyn and Carl about 5 years ago.  I was driving cross country with my lab and my last stop was in Surprise before heading to CA.  Such precious memories!  We were always a very close family, My mom was Marilyn's mom's sister.  I still have the wedding picture of Marilyn and Carl!  She will remain forever in my heart!   My deepest sympathy to Greg, Jeff and Madeline.

Sorry for your loss, Greg, Jeff, Maddie.  Hoping you hold on to the happy memories (and pictures) you have.

Marilyn's greatest joy was first and foremost, Family. Always elegant and funny and full of laughter. she is so very missed.

I have great memories from our trip to Chicago, leaps and bounds, fire flies and movies. It was always nice to see you and Uncle Carl when you came to visit San Diego. You were a kind sweet women. To the family I'm sorry for your loss. Love your Great Niece Ashley.

Trying to condense a lifetime of memories of my mother into a few thoughts really only scratches the surface of who she was...
 
As my brother Greg had mentioned, looking out for our mother's well-being for the last two and half years brings you closer to that person than anytime before. It revealed many sides and emotions between us including hope, anger, joy, frustration, and most importantly, love. It's the unshakable love that kept us bonded especially during the difficult times. No matter which way the conversation was going (good or bad) we always ended it with an "I love you" as we hung up the phone or when visiting her. But the last two years or so were just a small piece of her life; there were many good times too.
 
Joyful times of seasons past are indelibly etched in my mind especially during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter when Mom (and Dad) would make these holidays even better with a wonderful dinner and other goodies. Another great memory is when Mom used to take me to Arby's after virtually every hockey practice when I was around twelve years old. Every Wednesday night we would stop and get a sandwich on the way home. It certainly hit the spot! And let's not forget when Mom and Dad allowed my band to practice in the basement as young teenage rockers who did not understand constraint when it came to volume. We were there to blow the roof off the house! Patience, indeed! There were many more good times in the form of vacations, birthdays, and everyday life. 
 
Mom was funny, smart, and personable... but she was also opinionated and sometimes stubborn... just like me! We argued about everything from politics to what time to leave to get to the airport. If she said it's black, I would say it's white... that's just the way we were. I look back on those times fondly.
 
I will miss you immeasurably but I know you are reunited with Dad and in the hands of God's loving embrace.

Being the caretaker of my mom and making decisions with my brother Jeff for the last 2-1/2 years since my dad passed makes you closer to a person than you realize because of constant interactions with that person. We had fun times with dinners & lunches and had some differences also along the way. Being in this position makes the loss even harder for me. Towards the end we were able to get mom in a beautiful residential group home with wonderful people running it. She was finally happy, with people to talk to and actually starting to turn the corner a little on her health for the good. 

Unfortunately 3 weeks into it, it came crashing to a screeching halt as an intestinal disease she had been fighting since early Dec. had come back strong with no hope for survival. The call from the Dr. was beyond devastating for me. At least in the end we had made her happy and comfortable, a goal me and my brother have trying to achieve for a very long time. Mom was a devoted mother who loved her family and her prized granddaughter Maddie. There wasn't a conversation that had gone by where she asked how Maddie was doing and what she was up to. From what I've heard recently from her friends that Maddie was the "Apple of her eye".

Mom was classy woman, smart, shrewd and most of all, loving.

I will miss you greatly as well as the rest of us, God Speed Mom. They say there is a special place in Heaven for mothers, I'm sure you are there along with the rest especially Dad.
