It was hard not to think of Marilyn today, it was her birthday (it's after midnight now). She was the best mother in-law a girl could have. I have so many fond memories. My heart goes out the Friede and Flinn families and especially to Dieter. Love, Marcia

Dieter and Family,

Marilyn both saw and accepted me. I hadn't realized the simplicity, depth, and beauty of this fact until after she had passed away.

It's one of the everyday beautiful things about Marilyn.

She loved her family very much. She loved Dieter very much. I remember how she held entire conversations by a small look or glance with Dieter.

She recited poetry and made us laugh. She loved her sons. I'll miss the gifts she gave us in autumn to be opened on our birthdays or at Christmas time. The waiting was tough. I liked seeing her gifts on the mantel.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Friede and Flinn families. My wife Stacy and I met Marilynn (and Dieter) at the Lincoln Square Germanfest, and we had such a wonderful time meeting them. She was so vibrant and such a joy to talk to. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you and your family Dave.

Thinking about you Dieter. Will miss Marilyn's incredible, dry, clever wit, and the fun we had in the clubhouse after golf. Always so cheerful and positive. Take care of yourself Deiter.

Marilyn's dry wit and her sense of humor will be sorely missed. Marilyn, wherever you are, I'll be singing show tunes on the golf course--listen for it!
