Martha Mary Elmer

Martha was born June 15, 1937 in Monroe, Wisconsin to Adolph Zimmerman and Katherine “Nina” Bachmann Zimmerman. After High School, she attended Harper Beauty College to get her Certificate in Cosmetology. Being a Hairdresser was her long time passion and profession.

Martha married Marriot “Arlyn” Elmer on January 27, 1959 in Albany Wisconsin. Soon after, the couple moved to Carpentersville, Illinois to raise their family. In 1960, they moved to Elgin, Illinois. In 1991, the couple retired to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Martha moved to Sun City West, Arizona in January 2019.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph Zimmerman and Katherine “Nina” Bachman Zimmerman; her brother, Adolph Zimmerman; her sister, Gertrude Zimmerman Moest; her husband Marriot “Arlyn” Elmer; and her grandson Ryan Ahle.

Martha is survived by her children, Theresa (Jeff) Ahle of Sycamore, Illinois, Craig (Mary Pat) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Randal (Stephanie) of Buckeye, Arizona and Candi (Nigel) Sargent of Parker, Colorado; four grandchildren, Kevin, Brooke, Cassidy and Andrew; sister, Betty Zimmerman Brugger; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha enjoyed quilting, hummingbird watching, being part of hot air balloon chase crews, playing games and traveling around the world.

A celebration of Martha’s life will be held in Wisconsin later this year. Rather than sending flowers, the family requests you consider donating to the Charity and/or Catholic Church of your choice, buying a hummingbird feeder or buying a game in Martha’s memory.
