Maurice Mitchell Campion

Maurice Mitchell Campion, 91 years old of Waddell, AZ, passed away on August 21st.

Maurice was born May 31, 1927 in Nampa, Idaho. The son of Harry E. Campion and Julia Connole Campion.

Maurice enjoyed travel which took him around the world twice encompassing over 46 countries. He began his travel in his youth when he traveled to Mexico at the age of 16. He returned from Mexico to enlist in the US Army/Air Force during WWII. Following his service to his country, he returned to his family home in Portland, OR where he met and married Rose DeLucchi in 1949. The newlyweds returned to Mexico City where Maurice pursued a bachelors degree in Education. After graduating the couple returned to Corvallis, OR where he received a Masters degree in 1958. In 1968, he relocated his family to San Jose, Costa Rica where he studied and later received his PHD in education from ASU in 1972. Maurice taught Spanish at Phoenix College and Glendale College for over 35 years; retiring in 2002 to pursue his interests in real estate.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rose (DeLucchi) Campion; and devoted family; son, Nick (Linda) Campion of Austin, TX; daughter, Sharon (Jaime) Carassco of Reno, NV; son, Randy (Kathleen) Campion of Loveland, OH; daughter, Marcia (Harry - preceded in death) Campion, of Waddell, AZ; son, Michael (Karen) Campion of Peoria, AZ; son, Tom (Carol) Campion, of Steubenville, OH; a sister, Margaret "Margie" Burdick, of Portland, OR; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

There will be no public services at this time.
