Maurice is survived by his beloved wife, Marta Cohn; and son, David and his partner, Chad Harvey.
Maurice was born in Romania in 1952. His family, in 1965, was able to escape communist regime and immigrate to America. They settled in Philadelphia and loved being in this beautiful and free country. Maurice was an only child, so when his father died two years later...he helped his mother by working after school. He went on to become an engineer for Bechtel Corporation and worked on Nuclear Power Plants, including Palo Verde in Arizona. It was during this time that he met his wife, Marta, and in 1984 they were married and moved to Augusta, Georgia. When the nuclear industry flattened in 1985, they moved back to California and Maurice turned to the car business. He had always been fascinated with cars.
Their first child, David, was born in 1987 and then their daughter, Shelby, in 1991. They moved to Trabuco Canyon, California in 1994 and Maurice helped start a mortgage company in Newport Beach. He loved what he did...to help people become new homeowners. In the late 1990's, Maurice developed his "wild" side and got into motorcycle riding. At Cook's Corner in Orange County, he found the best group of bikers ever. They were all older, had good jobs/businesses, and loved to ride to somewhere to eat, smoke cigars and tell stories. Somehow during this time, he became "Moe" to most people.
The family moved again in 2011 to Surprise, Arizona. Maurice again found work in the mortgage business and continued to love what he did. In 2014, he had a lifesaving experience and accepted Jesus as his Savior. This changed his whole life and gave him purpose. In addition to loving his family, Maurice loved to travel, look at old and new cars, bar-b-que steaks for friends and family, play chess and most of all...find JOY in each day!
The family asks that you consider making a charitable donation in Maurice's memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718.
