February 9, 1956 – October 11, 2026
Michael Alan Turner was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and man of faith who will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and willingness to help others. A hardworking and faithful man, Mike cherished his family and friends and found great joy in making a difference in the lives of those around him.
In 1997, Mike married his beloved wife, Barbara, beginning a life together built on love, commitment, and family. He was a proud father to his daughters, Tracy and Melanie, and a loving stepfather to Tracy and Michael. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in making lasting memories with them.
Mike had a passion for woodworking and took great pride in creating beautiful pieces for others to enjoy in their homes. He also loved watching movies, listening to music, and spending time outdoors caring for his property and keeping it beautiful. Whether working with his hands or tending to the land he loved, Mike found satisfaction in hard work and in creating something meaningful.
His generosity extended well beyond his family. Mike was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Buffalo, New York, and later Shepherd of the Valley Evangelical Lutheran Church in Surprise, Arizona. His faith was an important part of his life, and he valued the fellowship and friendships he found through his church communities.
One of the most meaningful examples of Mike’s generosity was his donation of all his heavy machinery to Habitat for Humanity. Through this gift, he demonstrated his desire to help others and leave a lasting, positive impact on his community. He was always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge, and encourage others to learn new skills.
Mike will be remembered as a loyal friend and a devoted family man who wanted the best for the people he loved. He enjoyed helping his children make beautiful woodworking pieces for their homes and teaching them remodeling skills so they could complete projects themselves. These lessons were about more than craftsmanship; they reflected his patience, practical wisdom, and desire to help his family become confident and independent.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Pastor John Sprain of Shepherd of the Valley Evangelical Lutheran Church for his support and care, as well as to Surprise Inpatient Care Home and Hospice of the Valley for their compassion and kindness.
Mike’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he treasured, the beautiful things he created, and the many lives he touched through his generosity and faith. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
