

Michela Cancilla-Vallelunga, a native of Trabia, Sicily, Italy, passed away on March 9, 2026, in Surprise, Arizona, at the age of 93. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her enduring legacy is characterized by her exceptional generosity and unwavering strength. A private memorial service for immediate family and friends will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Dignity Memorial in Surprise, Arizona.
Michela Cancilla-Vallelunga's final resting wishes is to return to her native hometown Trabia, Sicily.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvatore Vallelunga.
Michela was the youngest of four siblings.
She is survived by her children: Michael Vallelunga, Giovanni Vallelunga and Antonina Vallelunga- Cortese .

She is also survived by her grandson Marco Vallelunga; granddaughters Alexandria Vallelunga, Christina Vallelunga, Martina Vallelunga, and Ashleigh Hoff; and great-granddaughters Gianna Grace Charles and Hayley Amaris Hoff.
Michela Cancilla-Vallelunga was born in Trabia, Sicily. She was a proud daughter of Veteran Salvatore Cancilla, who served in the U.S. Army during WWI, and Giuseppa La Barbera. Michela was a devoted Catholic; She enjoyed praying and reciting the rosary daily. At a young age, Michela learned and loved to pick olives with her father. She fell in love with the agriculture. Other passions included embroidering linens, crocheting, sewing, cooking and baking. Later on, her husband and three children, migrated to San Jose, CA in 1965. During retirement, Michela and her husband returned to Trabia, Sicily in 1986. After the passing of her husband in 2015, Michela returned to the states in 2016 and was surrounded by her three children and grandchildren.
