Peter Pedersen

Peter Pedersen, 62, passed away on August 26, 2026. Born on July 12, 1964, the son of Rigmor and Gunner Pedersen. He was born and raised in Denmark, moved to South Dakota and later made his home in Surprise, Arizona.

Peter shared 37 years of marriage with his wife, Carolyn Pedersen, and together they built a life grounded in devotion and partnership. He was also a proud father to his son, Chase Gunner Pedersen, and his care showed itself in the steady, faithful ways he stayed connected. Each night while Gunner was on patrol, Pete checked up on him, reminding Gunner to “be strong, be smart, and be safe”—words that reflect the guidance Peter offered with both love and clarity.

Peter lived with steady loyalty to those he loved meeting life with a rare blend of wisdom, kindness, and compassion. He carried a warm sense of humor—often marked by unmistakable Danish humor—that could lighten a moment without ever diminishing its meaning.

In his working life, Peter was a Machine Master and a teacher at Western Dakota tech. He was also a shop foreman for Beaver Creek and Mann Energy in Western North Dakota. Known for practical skills and a generous willingness to share what he knew. He had a way of making things work, and his thoughtful approach to problem-solving was matched by a quiet determination to keep learning. He always seemed to have an answer for everything, and if he didn’t know it, he would look it up and apply the knowledge he found.

Peter found joy in speedway motorsports and loved team roping, often roping with his wife, Carolyn. These interests reflected his spirit—focused, vigorous and deeply appreciative of time spent doing what he loved with the people who mattered most.

He was a member of CCV Church of Surprise, Peter and Carolyn were baptized at the Easter Sunrise Service. He was a teacher and mentor to all. His influence was felt not through grand gestures, but through consistent presence, patient counsel, and the kind of encouragement that stays with people long after the conversation ends.

Pete is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pedersen and son, Chase Gunner Pedersen. Parents Rigmor and Gunner Pedersen and sister, Dorthe (Pedersen)
