He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, his son Scott and wife Sue, son Craig and wife Linda and five grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Joshua, Grace and Rebecca and his brother Bill and wife Cindy. Duke was born in New York City on June 6, 1935. He later moved to Seattle with his family. Duke graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle and Stanford University where he received a degree in Economics. Later in the insurance business he received designations as a Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Property Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant. However, his lifelong proudest achievement was graduating Teaneck Public School’s kindergarten. Duke worked for Safeco Insurance Company for 36 years beginning his career as a trainee and ending his career as Vice President of Corporate Personnel. Duke grew up as an avid boater, having had some type of boat all his life. He served in the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed playing golf and camping with his family as well. However, as many who knew him can attest, his most notable and memorable traits were his slightly skewed, always present humor, his humility, his treatment of everyone as equals and his uncanny wisdom and unfailing compassion. Duke attended Crossroads Bible Church in Bellevue, WA. and Palm Vista Baptist Church in Surprise, Arizona. He will be missed dearly and we celebrate that through his faith he is now with the Lord. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Palm Vista Baptist Church, 17475 W. Bell Rd, Surprise, Arizona, 85374.
