

Capt Richard P. Leisenring, beloved Husband, Dad, Pops, and friend went to be with the Lord on 9/2/25. Capt Leisenring was a decorated Naval Officer serving for over 25 years after graduating from the United States Naval Academy. He earned his Master’s Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School and retired on August 1, 1984, after serving on the staff of Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
His distinguished career included duty at NSC San Diego, CA; the Navy Regional Data Automation Center, San Diego, CA; Staff, Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet; FMSO Mechanicsburg, PA; USS Cadmus (AR-14); ESO Great Lakes, IL; NAS Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; NAS Dallas, TX; and USS Diamond Head (AE-19). He loved the Navy and more that he loved the relationships that were built while serving together.
After retirement, he continued to impact the lives of young men in the NJROTC unit at Harbor Creek High School and as Dean of Students at Cathedral Preparatory School, both in the Erie, PA area. Known as “Captain,” he was loved and respected by his students, and his leadership classes were legendary.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, his children, Diane, Steve, Mike, and David, along with their families that include 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former spouse Nancy, the mother of his three eldest children, and his sister Sharon and three nieces. At the center of Richard’s life was his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that faith drove his love for family and his heart for service. He will be missed by all those who love him, but we are thankful that we will be united again in heaven.
Mass will be celebrated at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 11 am on 9/19/25 to be followed by interment services at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1:30 pm. Prince of Peace is located at 14818 W Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West, AZ and military services at National Memorial Cemetery at 2929 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Phoenix, AZ. A reception will follow at the family home. There will be no viewing and visitation the evening before the Church Service
