MARINO, Richard Paul, 66, of Surprise, Arizona, lost his battle with fibrosis of the lungs on October 5, 2015. Richard's multi-state quest for a lung transplant ended when Baylor Medical Center in Dallas turned him down in April. He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Marino, Sr. He is survived by his sons; Rich Marino, Jr. of New Jersey, and Nicholas (Nick) Marino of Arizona, who had recently been his father’s loyal care giver; his grand daughter Kayla Marino, grandson Gianni Marino; two grand daughters in New Jersey, his older brother John T. Marino, Jr.; his beloved mother Eileen Murphy Marino and many endearing nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles, and two step-sons. Richard was born and raised on Staten Island, NY. He graduated from Monsignor Farrell, an all-boys’ Catholic high school where he gained notoriety as leader of a rock & roll band named the Mark V and played in Central Park and appeared on television. He later had a career in Texas with the US Postal Service in Management. Many of his employees not only considered him to be the best boss they ever had, but were honored to call him a caring and kind friend as well. He remained close friends until his death with his former wife, Julie Marino of Arlington, Texas. Richard loved animals, motorcycles, guns, keeping up with the latest in technology, pontoon boats & fishing on the lake, restoring cars, hanging out with friends, and his family! Rich was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, drank Canadian Whiskey and he hated to eat vegetables! He lived fully and he did it his way and he will be greatly missed! A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 2:00 PM, at Surprise Funeral Care, in the Chapel 16063 W. Bell Rd. Surprise, Arizona. There will be a Reception immediately following the Service. To sign the guestbook online, please visit,www.surprisefuneralcare.com.
