

He was born in Bloomfield New Jersey, November 15, 1934 son of Robert and Clare (Salkeld) Ribbans.
Robert graduated with high honors as a chemical engineer from Lehigh University. He began his career working for DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware. His extensive knowledge in organic chemistry served him well inventing applications using Teflon, granting him over fifteen patents. In 1985 Robert started TCI Textile Coated International, where he was granted three more patents for the use of Teflon films. He was so very proud to be the president of a very successful manufacturing business.
Robert married the love of his life, Mariella Vogelius August 18, 1956. Together they cruised the world, three world cruises, every ocean and every continent including Antarctica. Australia was his favorite. He would often tell the story of Adelaide with the jumping crocodiles.
Surviving are his daughter Wendy Ribbans of Bel Air, MD, and sons James Ribbans and wife Lori Ribbans of West Rutland, VT and Edmond Ribbans and wife Kimberly Ribbans of Weare, NH. Five grandchildren Jay Ribbans, David Ribbans, Brian Ribbans, Ashley Ribbans, Trevor Ribbans and one great-great granddaughter Saylor also survive him. Robert was predeceased by his wife Mariella, and son Robert. A private burial will take place, at a later date.
