Born on March 2, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan, Rodney moved with his family to California at age 8, where he grew up in Alpine. He joined the Navy at age 17. Then made Arizona his home. Retired at 62, he proudly worked as an electrical distribution salesman for Brown Wholesale Electric Co.
Rodney met the love of his life, Carole Lee Weiler, and they shared 18 beautiful years together in the Valley of the Sun. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment with his family. Whether singing “My Way” or “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra or playing “Abilene” or “House of the Rising Sun” on the guitar for his daughters, he made ordinary days feel special.
Friends and family will remember Rodney for his great sense of humor, his very kind heart, and his passion for golf. He was always trying to perfect his swing and loved sharing his tips to help others improve theirs — especially with Carole.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Carole Lee Weiler, his sister Jackie Benedict, his stepdaughter, Stacey and her family, his son-in-law, Jonathan Kaufman, and his grandchildren Braden, Megan, Samuel, and Rebekah, his dear sister-in-law Beth Weiler (Gordon Sehl), stepdaughter Natalie and her family, his stepson Steven and many great friends and golf buddies.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Dawn Kaufman, his sons Scott and Matt Arnold, and his sister Jane Suter.
No celebration of life will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Rodney’s memory to the Mayo Clinic or the American Cancer Society.
Rodney’s warmth, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
