Roger Nils Hansen, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2015, after a three-and-a-half year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, where he met the love of his life at 5 years old. They married in 1962, and settled in Lake Shawnee, New Jersey, for 33 years, before relocating to Surprise, Arizona, in 2003. They shared a remarkably rare love story.
His professional career began as a Railroad Technician, for New York Central Railroad. The majority of his work was in the IT field, 30 years of which were with IBM, where he worked as a Mainframe Computer Technician, and OS System Developer. He retired from ADP, after working 10 years as an IT Director.
Roger was generous, quick-witted, serious and silly, and very proud to be Norwegian!
He also loved to sing, especially old country, and was known by his karaoke friends as the "Brooklyn Cowboy". He was a huge George Jones fan! He loved life, and touched many people with his kindness and sense of humor.
Roger is survived by his wife Joyce; daughters, Kristin and Karin; and granddaughter, Kalani, who will all miss him very much.
Arrangements entrusted to Surprise Funeral Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Pancreatic Cancer Research Program of your choice, or to Hospice of the Valley (HOV).
