Susan was born on June 25, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio, the second daughter of Henry and Jane Hofstetter. Shortly after she was born she, her parents, and her older sister Ann moved to Bloomington, Indiana where she grew up. After graduating high school in Bloomington, Susan went to the University of California at Berkeley, where she would study old English.
After college, Susan remained in the Bay Area and began her career. While working at Hills Brothers Coffee, she met her future husband Bill Mohme, who she would marry on August 26, 1972. After moving to Glen Rock, New Jersey, Bill and Sue would have their only son Chris.
Over the course of her life she moved from Glen Rock to Slidell, Louisiana and later to Surprise, Arizona. A homemaker for most of her marriage, she also volunteered extensively at local school libraries. Known for her sense of humor and love of telling stories, she made many friends over the years. She also loved to travel, and over the course of their marriage she and Bill visited over 50 countries and all seven continents.
Susan was preceded in death by her sister Ann, her parents Henry and Jane, and her husband Bill. She is survived by her son, Chris.
Susan will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in St. Louis with her husband Bill. There will be no formal service, and in lieu of flowers any donations to the ASPCA are appreciated.
