Vince was born in Messercola Italy to Nicola and Angela Capasso and at the age of 9 he emigrated with his family to Syracuse, NY. As the oldest of 3 children in a working class family he was relied on from a young age to help provide. It was he who was called upon to walk several miles to the nearest all night pharmacy to get medicine for his sick sister. It was he who quit school at 16 to take a job to help support the family. He worked several years at the Julius Resnick Pocketbook factory and then at Syracuse China. He became a United States citizen as soon as he was eligible and proudly served in the US Army, serving in the Vietnam War.
The immigrant spirit that lived in his heart instilled in him a lifelong desire to make a better life for himself and his family. Upon his honorable discharge from the service he married Virginia DeLucia and raised 4 children whom he was devoted to, and who also loved him with all their hearts. In 1981 he relocated his family to Phoenix Arizona embarking on various entrepreneurial ventures until his retirement.
In his free time he enjoyed playing cards, playing bocce and was quite the news junkie, never shying away from a good political discussion. Always a charmer, he was not above flirting with a waitress or someone in the checkout line. Everyone loved his outgoing nature. Most of all he enjoyed good times with family and friends.
Vince is survived by four children Vincent Capasso Jr (Geija) Lisa Patrick (Kelvin), Alexandra DiFlorio and Nicola Capasso; 7 grandchildren Nathan DiFlorio (Makayla) Gina DiFlorio, Vincent Capasso lll. Brannae Capasso, Ziah Patrick, KJ Patrick, Demea Patrick and 2 sisters Filomena Valentino and Angela DeSantis. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dad, brother, papa, friend- you leave an enduring legacy and achieved your dream of making a better life for yourself and your family. It was a life well lived, indeed.
