

Vincent Paul Graettinger was born in Graettinger, Iowa on November 21, 1932 to Al and Violet Graettinger. He was the eldest of six children, graduating from Graettinger High School in 1951, where he lettered in both basketball and baseball. Vince served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 until 1955 as a radar technician. He married Mary Jo Elbert August 28, 1957 and they had a family of 4 children. Vince pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, then earned his DDS in 1962. He and his family, two sons and two daughters, settled in Muscatine, IA, where he practiced dentistry for 30 years. After divorcing in 1989, Vince retired and then moved to Surprise, AZ in 1998, where he enjoyed golfing and extensive traveling with his partner for the past eleven years, Marian Cutts. He died suddenly December 21, 2011, after a fall. He is survived by his four children: Mark, Joan, Susan and Paul and six grandchildren: Ryan and Kevin Coulson of Laguna Hills, CA, Jennifer and Tyler Speck of Denver, CO and Drake and Annabel Graettinger of Muscatine IA, as well as by his five siblings: sisters Gail, Jean, Carol and Mary and brother, Steve and a host of friends. Vince lived life to the fullest, and loved Marian and his family deeply. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W. Bell Rd., Surprise, AZ 85374.
