COTTINGHAM-Alan Percival. Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer (retired). Died on Friday, July 19, 2019 in Surrey, BC. Born in Broadwater (West Sussex) England. Alan’s future career path began unfolding early in WW2 when he was still in High School. He volunteered as a Civil Defense messenger, joined Army Cadets, trained with local Home Guard, and enrolled in the Royal Sussex Regiment boy soldier program. In 1948, he emigrated to Canada and joined the R.C.A.F. (Meteorology), retiring in 1982. His posting assignments were frequent and varied, from air bases in Canada and Europe, to HMC and USN ships, tours as an instructor at the School of Meteorology, and staff positions a Maritime Command and Air Command Headquarters. He was particularly proud of his Canadian citizenship and the opportunity to serve his country. Alan is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughter Patricia, sons Clifford and Philip, grand-daughter Adrienne, and relatives in England. At Alan’s request there was no funeral service, and his body was cremated.
