Antonio Sasso, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2020 in his home in White Rock BC. Tony was born in Napoli, Italia on April 18, 1936 and emigrated to Vancouver, BC in May, 1966 with his wife and two small children.

Tony worked at the Hotel Vancouver from the time of his arrival in Vancouver in 1966, until his retirement in 1991, making many life-long friendships during his time at the Hotel. Tony was a lover of travel, exploration, new places and new experiences. He enjoyed delicious food, good wine and a strong whiskey on ice. Tony and his wife, Anna Sasso (née Peranio) subsequently had a third child, and the family enjoyed many years of picnics, camping, vacations, laughter and loving family dinners with extended family members. Tony loved, and was loved deeply by his family. A wonderful and kind man, Antonio touched many people’s lives, extending his reach to help without ever expecting thanks or recognition.

Tony was one of seven children born to Pasquale and Angela Sasso. He grew up in Napoli, trained in hospitality in Napoli, Rome and Paris, and traveled the world working in up-scale restaurants in the U.S.A, France, England, Germany, and Brazil, before settling in Vancouver to work and raise his family. Tony had a life-long love of fitness and a unwavering focus on health – he was a runner and a swimmer – and he and his wife would often go for ocean swims together.

Antonio leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Anna Sasso, his daughter Angela and his sons, Pasquale and William, along with 5 grandchildren – Emilia, Lucia, Giuliana, Joseph and Cristina.
