It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Balys Vileita at the age of 93. Balys is survived by his wife, Adele and daughters; Georgina, Diana, Audrey and his brother Zenius and sister Danute. Balys left Lithuania as a young man, immigrated to Canada in 1947, married Adele in 1949 and eventually settled in Vancouver. He was a founding member of the Lithuanian Community and helped organize numerous events, celebrations and protests towards achieving the Independence of his cherished homeland from Soviet occupation. He rejoiced when this was achieved in 1991. He loved to fish, play chess and was a loving husband and father. He will be missed by his friends and family who will remember him forever.
