It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Barb, who passed away gently May 15, 2015 after a long struggle with many life threatening medical conditions. She was born in Vancouver, B. C., on April 17, 1950, to Donald and Eleanor MacLennan. Barb worked at White Spot (Surrey Central) in the mid 70’s and for more than 15 years at C.C.R.A. as a Supervisor and was also loaned to Stats Canada for a census program. Barb loved to travel and spend time with her two grandchildren. In fact she had just spent 2.5 weeks on Maui with them and her husband Ole, just 6 weeks prior to her passing. Barb was predeceased by her Father, Mother, sister Ann Gorgei (Denny) and brother John Richard “Rick” (Dona). Barb is survived by her loving Husband of 48 years Ole and their 2 children Cindy Gervais (Paul), Carl and 2 grandchildren Blake and Jenna. The family would like to thank Barb’s doctors, Dr. Susan Laubenstein, Dr. Anne McNamara & Dr. Salima Shariff for their tireless efforts to keep Barb healthy over these many years. The bedside manner and thoroughness of Drs. Barnard, Mariano & Gabana, as well as the sincere compassion by Taylor was second to none during Barb’s final stay at Royal Columbian Hospital. The Nursing Staff on 6 North Columbia Tower, headed by Donna and Kim, was commendable in making Barb’s care more comfortable. We will be forever grateful to the Nursing Staff at Laurel Place Hospice for their compassion and dedication to Barb and our family during her last few days. We must also thank Syd Belzberg and the Bresler family (Ole’s employers) for providing heart felt support to Barb and Ole as she struggled with her illnesses over the past 25 years. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Barb’s cousins, friends and Ole’s family for all their support thru these very trying last few weeks. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
