Barbara Jeanne Stevens (nee Sherwood)

December 31, 1956September 23, 2013

On September 23, 2013 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, Barb passed away with her loving husband Doug by her side. Her wonderful spirit drew people to her. She encouraged those who needed it and readily shared compassion and laughter with her family and friends. Heaven has gained another angel. Barb is survived by her husband Doug; their children Jay and Brianne; Doug's sister Virginia and Family, his Mom, Elaine, and brother's family; Barb's father, Herbert; brothers Deane (Alice), Herb (Tina) and sister Bev (Steve). Not to be forgotten are the nieces, nephews, great-niece and great-nephew who all adored her. She leaves behind many good friends; their love and support is a testament to Barb's endearing kindness and acceptance. Thank you to the staff at Laurel Place for their loving care. Barb's service is to be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831-28th Avenue, Surrey, BC on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to Barb's Gal Pal's & Co at

I met Barb many, many years ago at Western Drug Mart where we both worked. We quickly became fast friends. We both lived at home and thought it was time to move out and try it on our own. We did well as roommates primarily because Barb was so easy going. We lived together, worked together and played together. We had many good times and many memories. We attended many parties at Strawberry Hill Hall and afterwards it was always back to our place for good times with friends.
I was with Barb and Doug the night they met, "Village People" at the Cave.
Although our lives went in different directions years later, I always thought of Barb as a good friend. She was kind, considerate, patient, loving and a dear friend. I miss her terribly and will always hold her close to my heart.
My condolences to Doug, Jay, Brianne and all the family.

She was one of the best people I've known - I've worked along side her and she was always so easy to get along with. She was truly a great and good person and will be dearly missed.
