

David Pearson Keen, a retired insurance broker and business owner, passed after suffering a stroke, December 9, 2023, in Langley, BC at the age of 82.
David is survived by his wife Ann, children Lorna (Mark), Andrew (Kelly), Annette (Brian), and grandchildren Dylen, Tyler, Jason, Madysen, Rylea, Morgen, Keegan and Jaime.
David was born in Ashford, Middlesex, England, June 23 1941. Son to William and Ada Keen.
David attended North Weald Primary School, advancing to St. Albans School for Boys in Essex. David met best friends Roger and Nigel. Nigel and David got into a lot of trouble, riding motorcycles on Nigel’s Family farm. David and Nigel were no strangers with the Head Master, often visiting the office.
After graduation, David went to South West Essex Technical College, for 1 year.
Eager to start working, David found employment at Hogg Robinson Caple Cure Insurance, where he met wife Ann.
Married to Ann Keen (Briscoe) in September 1962.
Ann and David tried running David’s Uncle and Aunt’s Pub in Greenwich, London, leaving in March 1967, returning to the Insurance Industry. They had 2 children in England, Lorna in 1967, Andrew in 1968
David worked for Minette Insurance, asking for a transfer to Montreal, Canada. They emigrated to Montreal in 1969 and had daughter Annette in 1970. David became a big Hab’s fan while in Quebec. After the FLQ Crisis, the family moved to Burnaby, BC in 1971. After 2 years in Burnaby, working for Reed Shaw Osler Insurance in Vancouver, moved the family to White Rock.
He took (afterwork) night courses in the Business Program at UBC to gain an Associate Degree in Business.
David started his own Insurance brokerage a few years later, successfully growing the business with partner Peter.
In 2001, David started a new endeavor with partner Patrick, both serving on the Board of the Insurance Brokers Association. David and Patrick gained immediate success, eventually selling the business and David retiring in September 2008.
David was an active member in the Insurance Brokers Association of BC for many years, eventually acting as Insurance Brokers Association, President in 2003.
David coached his children in soccer, becoming President of Peace Arch Soccer Club, and continued refereeing, donating his referee fees to pay for under privileged athletes registration fees.
David’s passion for model railways and a member of VanGOG and Gauge O Guild Model Train Club, brought him years of enjoyment and friendships.

Service to be held Friday, January 5, 2024 at 1:00pm at Victory Funeral Centre 14831 28 Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia.
