David Stanley Mortimer

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Dave on Feb 5, 2026. Born in Vancouver, Dave grew up in both East and West Vancouver, graduating from West Van High in 1956. Shortly after graduation, he joined the RCMP, where he embarked on a rewarding and successful career that spanned many years. His postings took him to Saskatchewan, Ontario, and British Columbia, where he forged many lifelong friendships.

After retiring from the RCMP, Dave founded Over The Hill Gang Builders, a company that built homes. He also spent many years marshalling at Hazelmere, where he enjoyed socializing and gently guiding golfers. In his free time, Dave was an avid golfer, biker, hiker, carver, and guitarist. He spent many winters in Arizona, where he had a large extended family of friends.

Dave’s wife, Sue, his children Jeff (Linda), Jay (Suzanne), and his grandchildren Alexa, Kyle, Olivia and Sarah, as well as many other family and friends, will all deeply miss him.

We grieve today because we love him so much, and we are eternally grateful for the time we spent together. Dave requested no formal service, but we kindly ask that you raise a toast in his memory. Donations can be made to the ALS Society of BC Project Hope.

His passing leaves an indescribable heartache, but his memory and love will forever reside in a special place in our hearts.
