Dorothy and I worked at Dome Petroleum together and we were inseparable.  She was like a second mother to me. We lost contact over the last 10 years but I took her out for lunch about 4 years prior to her death. On time she was leaving my parents house where we had dinner. My mom gave Dot some home made biscuits to take home. Dot wasn't the best at navigating driving and we gave her simple directions to get to a major road. Guess she was driving in circles and a police car pulled her over. She tried to explain what the problem was and of course, she charmed the police man and even offered him one of her biscuits. She told me about what happened and we had a good laugh. We had so many great times together Dot and I. I'm so sorry I didn't see her more but I did try on multiple occasions. She seemed to always call in January when I was away and I really regret not calling her as soon as I returned. Heaven will be enjoying Dot like so many of us did on Earth. xoxo

I am so sad to find out that Dot has passed away. I worked with her many years at Dome Petroleum where we met.  She was so special to me; she was like my second mother. She organized 2 baby showers for me during our friendship. After many years not seeing each other, we had lunch together about 6 years ago when she lived in an apartment in Lakeview.  When I drove her home she said "Val, whatever you do, don't get old". I loved Dot so much.  She had left me a voice mail message often in January but I was usually on a Winter vacation during those days. I think the last time she left a message may have been Jan 2017. I wish I knew of her passing and that she had moved to BC, I'm sure to be with her family. She was a special person that I will never forget. 

We remember our dear friend,  Dorothy,  Dot, with fondness and love.  She was   a welcoming,  kind and helpful neighbour, and faithful friend.  Dorothy was a woman who loved to tell stories,  laugh,  and spend time with her friends  and who also LOVED shovelling snow   and embarassed us 'young ones' when she did our walk too     She knit hundreds of quilt  squares,  passed them on to Sr Mary who turned them into a quilt for "The Mustard Seed" .  We enjoyed her company and stories when she joined us at St. John's for special celebrations and dinners.    I wish I could be there to bid you farewell to your final home
