Born in Montreal in 1920, Dorothy (DOT) was the only child of Sarah McCulloch MacLean - Oban, Scotland (predeceased) and Charles Leslie Robinson – Musselburgh, Scotland (predeceased). As a young child recovering from rheumatic fever she became an avid reader and singer. Growing up she loved to swim, skate, ski and dance. Dorothy graduated from a business institute and worked for the income tax dept in Montreal. She volunteered during WW ll and supported the Red Cross for many years. After the war in 1947, Dot married Major Douglas Fairburn McMullen – 17th Hussars Regiment. They built a new home in St. Lambert, Quebec, had a son Roderick Charles in 1955 and a daughter Lesley Alva in 1958. Doug worked for The Bell Telephone and Dot started a home business as an income tax consultant. In 1966 at the age of 45, Doug died suddenly of a heart attack. Dot decided to follow their dream of retiring in Vancouver. She packed up her tent trailer, kids, father, the dog and a pet rat in a bird cage, (the cat flew) spent 3 weeks camping across Canada and started a new life in the Dunbar area of Vancouver. Dorothy worked for Canada Trust head office, specializing in income tax and mutual funds. After her father Charles passed away in 1986 at the age of 101, she retired to the Ocean Park area of South Surrey where she loved living for more than 20 years. All her life, Dorothy was an upbeat, strong, courageous, independent person and will be dearly remembered for her sharp mind, love of animals, and always putting her family first. She and her children Rod, Lesley, son-in-law Rob were so grateful they were able to spend this past Christmas together and would like to thank the staff at Delta hospital for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delta Hospital Foundation.
