Dorothy Olive (Thorkilsen) McDermid

Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 96. We greatly appreciate the love and care that our mother and grandmother (known as Nana) received from the staff at Marwood Centre, Langley.

She was the last surviving sibling of 4, born to August Belmont Henry and Dorothy Mary Biss. The families immigrated from England in the ~50's and 60's to Canada.

Dorothy joins her predeceased first husband Theo and her second husband Archie. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, Ross, Douglas (Lynn) and Malcolm (Nicky), 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was a very active person, she enjoyed traveling with both of her late husbands. A member of the Senior Centre, she was in the walking club, the choir and even did some of the gardening. She was an artist and her family and friends have many of her treasured paintings in both oil and watercolor.

In respecting Dorothy's wishes, she will be cremated and interred in The Masonic Cemetery in Burnaby, B.C. There will be no celebration of life per her wishes.
