Dear Uncle Rudy,Bob, Debbie and Sue,
What a time this has been for you! I hope you have found comfort in the love of family and friends. Aunty Dorothy's smile will always be one of my best memories along with the great hospitality she offered the few times I came from Calgary. I especially remember a lunch of creamed tuna with peas on toast. A favourite! Love and hugs to you all.

I will dearly miss Auntie Dodie! Many years we went out to Richmond to visit the Miller's and swim in the pool and play pool and clink on the piano while mom and Auntie Dodie chatted. I can still picture them in the kitchen. She would often telephone and say,..Hi Kath....is your mom there?"More recently many phone calls touching base with mom and checking up on each other and their health.  Auntie Dodie made it out recently to visit Maxie and it gives me fond memories to have seen her come for tea at the Shannon's and chat, and reminisce. I know she worried for Maxie. We will all truly miss her so much. much love, Kathy

I remember going to Nelson and you allowing me to learn how to learn how to ride on Bob's bike.
I will always smile when I picture you standing in front of your house, greeting us, then waving us goodbye whenever we visited you guys in Richmond.

Dear Bob and Family, Dear Sue and Family,

I am writing to let you know that my prayers are with you all. Dorothy and I had some great times on the Skype, thanks to you Bob. It was like sitting in her living room, and having a conversation. We had lots of laughs of times past, and what we did as kids. Each time Maxine sent us a picture, we would remember when it was taken, and how we all thought about it. Even the clothes we had on brought back memories. She and I always were close, and it will always bring me wonderful memories when I think about her.

 

The Lord give you the strength and His peace as you go through all that is before you. I will be praying for you all, and I will keep in touch

Dorothy was an excellent
Cook and came by it honestly.

On coming home from hospital
Our mother   wrapped her  in cotton batting
and put her  in the warming oven.

Kindergarten:

I did all dorothys work until
They caught me and separated us.

Grade 3

She had a lisp and said
Thumbsbuddy has to be last
In line

Audrey always thought this was cute.

Grade 4

We were teachers helper
Making tea for teachers
At recess and lunch

Also we walked home w. a teacher daily trying to honey up for
Better grades. - not too
Successful of an idea

Around this time

She did a skating race from
All around regina at regina stadium. She won her
Age group.

Dorothy liked music

She would get on piano and play by ear

And we would sing in harmony

Mostly cowboy songs

Dorothy and I sang a duo
At the radio station.

But dad would'nt let us do
any Cowboy songs.

We would switch harmony
And people would not
Know who was actually singing

We loved  to sing w the whole family

She had an excellent memory
For dates .  I always used her
As my personal databank
to give me a time stamp
When things happened.

I remember when she spotted
Rudy she liked the bald guy
W the nice blue eyes.

Before facebook we used
Our daily conversations
As the update for our families
Going ons and keep every
Up to dates.  -It was
a big part of our daily lives.

I will miss her dearly.

Dear Sue & Family,

I was hoping to make it today, but, unfortunately unsure if I will be able to attend. 

I wanted to express my deepest of sympathy to you all. Although words can never take away the void feeling, I do hope that you find some comfort in the many that are expressing their thoughts and memories with you.

Being that we are all parents now, we can now, somewhat, look through our parents eyes on some of life’s events. I am without a doubt, very sure that your Mom would be extremely proud looking at you all today, and I am sure she would say, that her family, was one of her life’s greatest accomplishments. 

I, like all others, have been recalling memories of the past, and the one that stands out the most for me…I remember coming over for lunch one day from school, and two things significant remain with me.

1.       It was one of the very first times, for me, to have a Mom at home making a homemade lunch, so your Mom became the “model Mom” in my young eyes.

2.       Being that I was such a finicky eater, she convinced me and introduced me to Mac –n – cheese with wieners. Previous to that day I had never experience such a combo, let alone have my food touch and or mix. 

Thank you Mrs. Miller, for your role model,” Mom” vision, your insight to parenting, and nurturing one’s children, and opening my eyes to food combos. Your Mac-n-cheese wiener lunch was the beginning, to me having the courage to explore the scrumptious world of food, and different combinations of it.

Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers today, and in time, the pain felt within your hearts, will be replaced with an abundance of loving memories, just a moment from thought.

I remember Aunty Dorothy talking about her time in Salmo. I guess in those days, when Uncle Rudy went into camp, he would let his hair grow and once it got far past his shoulders. The bar tender called him ma'am. Anyways, she talked about the local loose women as "dolly dimps," with that pursed mouth thing she used to do. It would always make me laugh.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Aunty Dorothy was one of the most joyous people I have ever met and I shall miss her dreadfully. I am thinking of Rudy, Bob, Deb and Sue and how much harder it will be for you. My love to you all.

We keep thinking of you all in this very difficult time. You had a very special wife and mother. Memories of Nelson in 1966; Dorothy was my ' mom away from home'. Her smile and laugh were infectious. We will remember her and she will be missed a lot.
