It was with great sadness that I heard recently of Drago's passing, although I new him only a few years through work with the District of Kitimat I very much enjoyed working with him. His friendly manor was contagious and his professionalism unquestionable. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Duboko nas je potresla vest da  Draga vise nema, jer smo se, i pored saznanja o njegovom teskom stanju, ipak potajno nadali boljem.
Ti si, nazalost, izgubila svog najboljeg i voljenog druga i to ti niko ne moze nadoknaditi, a mi cemo biti u mislima uz tebe u tvojoj dubokoj zalosti. Budi hrabra i jaka, kao sto si uvek i bila.
Draga cemo pamtiti kao izuzetno dobrog coveka, sarmantnog, duhovitog i privrzenog porodici.
Neka ti Bog da snage da izdrzis i da nastavis da zivis zbog Zorice, preslatke decice i vasih sinova, jer si im sada najvise potrebna. Drago sigurno ne bi voleo da se predas i patis.

Drago is my brother -in law , but as I remember vary little of my childhood when he was not in our lives, he truly is the brother that I always wanted.
As a child I was facinated by the stories that Drago would tell us about his childhood in Lijesce with his four brothers.It was a never ending tale of mischif, lafter and lesens learned.
He applied all of those throught rest of his life as well as honour, dignity and strenght.
He would say that he has been teaching me all of my life and he would be right -as usual.
When I started learning English Drago would test my knowledge of voccabulary.I had difficulty remembering the word Still, Drago new that I liked a boy in my class whose name was Stile, so he said that whenever I needed to use the word Still I just need to think of Stile! And you know almost fifty years later I still use that advice.
Then there were driving lesons, bying my first car, house, planting fruit trees, building fences.. and the list goes on.But like with any siblings, there were also infuriating times, in particular when one is trying to assist or help Drago-the men of vary few words,he never asks for help , so you would pritty much have to read his mind to know what he wanted or needed; I became good at it althgough I have to admit there were times when I was ready to hit him over the head with the two -by- four he said I was not holding right.
Drago had  awicked sence of humor and he would often phone me with the joke that he heard , read or made up.Every April 1st he would call with some cocomany story or another , but I fell for it each and every time- with him laughing away as he got me yet one more time.
His gratest pride and joy are his two sons Ivan and Nickolas; and he was never busy or tired to do anything with them or for them- from soccer practices  to music lessons, from school projects to graduations, from wedings to new homes.And then there came three more little Grabovacs that rounded up his happiness-Julia, Emily and Kai.To see Drago with his grandchildren is to experience pure joy;instead of reading stories to Julia he would just start telling one that was better and more imaginative then any one that was written; showing Emily the finer points of fishing was something special; and then came Kai and trains, building tools and soccer and there was no end to his happiness.
And then there is one person that was his whole life, his reason for being - Jelena- my sister.There is a love story that does not end today but will live on forever.Sharing lifes ups and dowens for almost fifty years they were truly one;oh don't get me wrong they disagreed and they had differences of oppinions but they were true partners in life.
So long my brother - till we meet again!

Jelena: So sorry to hear of your recent loss. It was a privelege to have known you and Drago during your time in Kitimat. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I was so sorry to hear of Drago's passing.  Our dealings with him at Glacier Concrete were always pleasant. He seemed younger than his years. He had such a friendly demeanour and good sense of humour, but always maintained a high level of professionalism.  He rarely made a phone call without asking how we were doing in a very personable manner.  If only more people were like him.

Jelena and family, it was with great saddness that I heard of the death of Drago. I still think of the time in Kitimat as all of us being so young and moving forward with our lives. Drago brought such optimisim to our little town.

Drago,

I was so sorry to see the obituary today with your face that I remember well.  We met soon after you came to Canada and shared the paths of young immigrants  trying to make life better for our families.  We lost contact as our lives evolved in different directions in the early 80's, but I will always remember you as a man of integrity and keen sense of humour.  My sincere condolences to Jelena and the rest of the family.

Drago was one of the nicest person I've met, and I am going to miss him very much.  Jelena and Ivan, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
