Lee’s German speaking parents, Philip and Mary, immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, from Russia in the early 1900’s. Born April 14, 1933, Lee was the sixth of nine children (7 girls, 2 boys). She married Charles Groth in 1951, and they went on to have 5 children. Eileen felt that her biggest and finest contribution in life, was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family life was everything to her.
Eileen and Chuck moved to Vancouver, where Lee worked for a time as a seamstress at Jantzen Swimwear. Later the family moved to Richmond, where Lee worked for B.C. Ice, B.C. Packers and Tilden Car Rentals. Shortly after its opening in 1966, Lee started working at Richmond General Hospital as a housekeeper, and 26 years later she retired as a Lab-Aid. After her retirement, Lee took up many hobbies and enjoyed a busy and interesting single life. In her early 60’s, she met a special man, Reg Williams, and they enjoyed a happy and loving relationship for more than 10 years. Lee’s final years were spent in Cloverdale, quietly and comfortably at home, while Alzheimer’s slowly took her away.
Over the years, Lee has been a special part of many people’s lives and she will be remembered with boundless love, appreciation and affection by her family and friends. Lee is survived by her 5 children, her 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her youngest brother and numerous nieces and nephews. Lee is forever in our hearts and her love will always be with us always.
