It is with great sadness we announce the death of our beloved mother, Elizabeth Davison (Bette) on the 10th of November 2023 at the grand age of ninety-four. Born in West Hartlepool, England, on March 2nd 1929, the second daughter of Thomson and Elizabeth Collins, Bette lived through World War II and studied nursing, all before meeting and marrying her dancehall sweetheart, James Davison in 1951.
Seeking adventure and a greater world view, Jim and Bette emigrated to Canada in 1956. Pregnant with their first child, Alan, the couple decided to return to England and settled in Stockton in 1960. Three years later their second son, Colin, arrived and Bette embraced the role of full-time mother and homemaker. Over the next decade the family made three attempts to put down roots in Canada before emigrating to Australia in 1973. After two years spent in Australia, the family finally moved back to Canada, settling in Stratford, Ontario in 1975.
Over the years Bette worked at numerous and varied job roles, but all the time making sure the family was her primary focus. Her love of outdoors (walking, camping, picnicking) along with such hobbies as knitting, cooking and baking, brought much joy to her life. Her love of laughter and sense of humour will live on for all those who knew her.
Elizabeth is predeceased by James, who passed away in March 2003. She is survived by her two sons, Alan (Leslie) and Colin/Jude (Thea), her grandchildren Paul, Emily, Sarah, Kate, Oliver & Hannah, and great grandchildren, Lyric, Van, Charlie, Rey, Millie, Charlotte & Iris.
