Elizabeth Ellen de Koster

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) De Koster (nee Dunsmore), our dear Mum and Nana, at the age of 93. Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Godfried (2019). As the last of six brothers and sisters, she is also predeceased by her dear sister Molly Palin, four brothers, Allan, Peter, John and Richard, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Elizabeth is also survived and dearly missed by daughter Dorothy (Bruce), son Phillip (Kathryn), and grandchildren Craig (Savana), Sarah, Stephanie (Michael), and Richard. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews around the world.

Never one to complain, Betty was first and foremost resilient and selfless. She worked tirelessly to care for her family as a loving and devoted wife, Mum and Nana. She was a helpful, patient and kind friend, volunteering her time at a local elementary school in her retirement, and loved to spend her down time being creative with knitting, cross-stitch, sewing, reading and crosswords. Afternoon tea time was a must in Betty's home, and no one could make a cup of tea quite like her. She was often reserved, but with a smile, a look, or a comment, she had a knack for making those around her laugh and enjoy her company even more. Those who survive her will miss her dearly but take great comfort in knowing she is now at peace. At Betty's request, there will be no service. Expressions of sympathy can be made through a donation in her memory to the Canadian Lung Association.
