Elsie Margaret SCHUSSLER
July 2, 1930 – March 19, 2020
It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Elsie Schussler at the age of 89. Elsie is survived by her husband John Schussler, son David Schussler and grandchildren Eva, Danika, and James. Elsie was carried through a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s by her loving husband John. Not a day went by without John by Elsie’s side or with her in his heart. Married for 62 years John and Elsie shared a bond and zest for life that is an inspiration for those left behind. Elsie was born in Melville Saskatchewan July 2nd, 1930. Moving to Surrey shortly after she was born, her family became part of the farming community in the lower mainland. Elsie attended Semiahamoo Secondary, furthering her education later in Vancouver. Elsie spent many years working at Central Mortgage and Housing, finishing her professional career as a business woman and developer in Surrey BC. A devoted family woman Elsie loved her family and husband with no reserve. Elsie loved, and was loved by a close group of relatives and friends in the lower mainland, she would always make time for those who needed her. Many a special occasion was marked by warm voices bubbling from the kitchen, then moving to the dinner table with friends and family in the Schussler household. It is with heavy hearts we bid farewell to Elsie. May you rest in peace knowing you were loved by all you touched. May God, bless you and hold you in his arms. Special thanks to the staff at Rosemary Heights Seniors home for taking good care of Elsie in the last years of her life. John is eternally great full for the special attention Elsie received, and the warmth extended to him on his daily visits. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. A Memorial Service for Elsie will be held at a later date.

I first met Elsie in 1974 at a Falconbridge "get together" orchestrated by the Hugi's.
In early 1982, John was at the Falconbridge Delta office and mentioned that I should look at real estate. Later that day, Elsie invited me over for one of her great dinners and got me enthused about houses. In May, 1982 I bought the house on Habgood Street in White Rock. Thank you Elsie.
When we got engaged Elsie asked me what we wanted for our wedding. I said that a Ferrari would be a great gift. When we opened our wedding gift from John and Elsie there was my Ferrari. It still its on my office window sill and is the only car that has been given to me. Elsie was a wonderful baker and we never visited them without being offered a delicious baked dessert. I will miss you. Felicity
Thank you John for looking after Elsie.
