Emi Ross

Emi (Schager) Ross passed away September 7th, 2024 at Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey, British Columbia after a lengthy illness. Emi was born in Maierle, Slovenia on November 4th, 1929. After living in various displacement camps with her mom and siblings she immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1952. During a family gathering she met Richard Spreitzer (Ross) and married him a year later. Emi worked a little but was mostly a stay at home mom, together with Richard they raised three sons.

Emi liked sewing and knitting and especially gardening, her flower gardens around the house always looked spectacular! Mom also enjoyed cooking and baking... her cakes, cookies and her delicious nut bread and apple strudel were always plentiful! Her pièce de résistance however was her holiday turkey dinners which included probably the best tasting stuffing anywhere! Family never missed holiday dinners!

Emi was preceded in death by her parents and five of her six siblings. She is survived by her brother Joseph, husband Richard, three sons, Rick (Debbie), Steve, John (Sherri), two grandchildren, Brad (Maren) and Sarah and two great grandchildren, Austin and Lincoln.

A funeral service for Emi will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Parish, 16079 88 Ave, Surrey, BC V4N 1G3. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valley View cemetery entrance, 14567 72 Ave, Surrey, BC V3S 2E8.
