Evelyn "Pat" Smith

Smith (née Hipson) Evelyn (Pat) - born March 28, 1926 in Belfast, Ireland passed away at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village, Surrey, B.C. on October 15, 2021 at the age of 95 surrounded by family. Predeceased by her husband Bill of 68 years, Pat is survived by her loving sons Ian (Kathy) of Calgary and Kevin of Toronto; grandchildren Breanne, Taylor, Katelyn and Keyon; and great-grand children Ellie, Charlotte, Harper, Henry, Violet, Leighton and Addison. Pat will be deeply missed by family and special longtime friend Kay McMullan. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village for their care and kindness during Pat’s residency there.

During her childhood Pat lived in Belfast as well as Bath, England. During WWII Pat enlisted and served overseas, following the troops to Berlin as a member of the Exchange Commission. Pat and Bill met at a dance at His Majesty’s Forces Nuffield Centre in London, England and they were married on July 25, 1949, they later emigrated to Canada in 1958 to Hamilton, Ontario. In their retiring years they settled in White Rock, B.C. and continued to enjoy their dancing until Bill’s passing.
