Florence Renaud was the dearly beloved Matriarch of our family infusing us with love, wisdom and strength. Through her 97 years she continually marveled at the amazing changes she lived through from horse and buggy days on the family farm in Pibroch, Alberta to jet plane travel and her love of the internet.
Florence was the first child born to Tom and Freida Rimmer and siblings, Ted, Betty, Rex and Donald followed closely behind. Florence’s mother died of tuberculous when she was ten years old leaving her with responsibilities that would guide her life. Florence’s father remarried and seven more children, Brent, Dennis, Dale, Judy, Joan, Barry and Brian would join the family.
Florence met Andy Renaud, the love of her life, when he helped her crank the motor on her little yellow Model A Ford roadster. They married in 1948 and lived in Westlock, Alberta until they moved to Delta, BC, in 1976.
Florence was a ray of sunshine to her family, friends and everyone who knew her, and she will be dearly missed. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by her son Eugene Renaud, three daughters, Carole Brost, Cathie (Wilf) Hansen, and Michelle (Dan) Hofoss; five grandchildren, Tyler (Michelle) Brost, Tara (Romeo Devcic) Brost, Mark (Raelene) Hansen, Mats (Lauren) Hansen and Justin Renaud; and seven great-grandchildren, Nate, Callie, Luke, Cameron, James, Emma, and Nathan.
Florence loved her family, she grew magnificent flowers, and she enjoyed her computer. She was passionate about sports closely following the Canucks and BC Lions where she out-coached the coaches and called penalties ahead of the referees.
Her long, well-lived life, filled with both triumphs and health challenges, was sustained by a deep and lasting faith. Florence loved God and we have no doubt that He was waiting to welcome her to Heaven and that her husband Andy and daughter Janice were there to greet her and welcome her home.
A funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 2250 – 150 Street, Surrey, on Thursday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a Viewing at 10:30 and Burial will follow at Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery, 15694, 32 Ave, Surrey at 12:30 p.m.
