Coach Parr will be missed. He was my Varsity Football and basketball coach while at STMC and he also coached our UBC football team as well. He raised the program while at STMC- he brought in some great coaches and we started to really compete against teams- he brought that to the program. He had a nice presence about him which commanded attention. I thank him for all that he's done for others. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. My dad was a manger of the Vancouver Jr. Blue Bomber football club when Gerry was the head coach. So I first got to know Gerry through my dad. I also played on that team for 3 years under Gerry. Gerry was a big presence of a man who commanded respect just by his presence. Gerry had a great passion for the game of football. And then as fate would have it Gerry came to STMC where he helped to build the football program and became the first STMC football coach to lead STMC in victory over VC at the senior level - in fact he defeated them two years in a row. Gerry was a good friend of my father and I will never forget that. It is never easy to lose a loved one and my heart goes out to Corrine and Curtis. I have found the following quotation helpful: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves memories no one can steal.”

Andy sent me an email today about Gerry. I am in shock. Condolences to Corrine, Curtis and family. While the miles separated us and we had not been in touch much the past 10 years, we were good friends since 1982. Gerry welcomed me as a coach at STM back then and went on to mentor me for years. I stayed at STM an extra 2 years because of my bond with Big Gerry. We closed down many pubs. Nobody I ever met knew more about football than Gerry. I gleaned info from him constantly. He was a great coach at both STMC and UBC. We hooked up every time the T-Birds were in Edmonton to play the Bears. I will miss him very much and I will think about him every time I watch the LA Rams play. Those who ever got close to Gerry could appreciate the time he took to teach life's lessons.

Dear Parr Family, last Thursday, I received a very sad email from Doug Woodward informing me of Coach Parr's passing. My immediate thoughts went to Curtis, a friend and brother with whom I have shared so many life experiences and good times. Curtis always spoke so fondly of his dad and was so proud of Coach Parr. I will pray for your entire family and I will pray for the repose of Coach Parr's soul, which I am certain is at peace. I know that my words bring little comfort during these difficult days, but please accept my condolences, and may my prayers and the prayers of the St Thomas More Collegiate community ease a bit of the pain of Coach Parr's passing.

Very sorry to hear this news. Prayers go out to the family. I will have the Notre Dame community keep all in mind. He made me laugh at virtually every practice.
