Gloria Anne Kenny (née Rosen) died peacefully on October 11, 2019. Gloria was born on August 13, 1946 in Manitou, MB and lived on a farm with her parents and five siblings. She attended Manitou Collegiate, where she excelled academically, before moving to Winnipeg to work in health care and insurance administration. In 1972, she met Philip Kenny; the two married in 1973 and later moved to Victoria, BC. Gloria and Philip raised two daughters and owned and operated a Sam the Record Man at the Hillside Shopping Centre in Saanich. The couple moved to Tsawwassen, BC in 1986 and, their daughters grown, to Burlington, ON, in 2000, Vancouver, BC in 2003, and South Surrey, BC in 2010.
Gloria loved flowers; neighbours marveled at the lovely perennial garden she kept at the house in Burlington. She was also an avid painter in both watercolours and acrylics. She and Philip greatly enjoyed travelling, particularly in Europe and the Pacific Northwest, and, closer to home, nature walks along the Nicomekl River and at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary. Gloria was an intelligent, kind, and gentle woman and she will be missed by her husband, daughters Elizabeth (Meesoo Lee), Adrienne, extended family, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, October 17 at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Ave, Surrey, BC.
