Survived by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Coral/Carol; daughters Karen Currie and Kendra (Murray) Coleman; son Paul (Lori); six grandchildren, Ryan (Jenna), Bradley (Alycia), Kelsey (Josh), Heather (Kevin), Sam and Daisy; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ava, Easton, Nico, Sophia, Tyson and Emma; and his sister and brother-in-law Anne and Leo Mide. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Joanne, sister Margaret and her husband, Ron, niece Louise, and two great-grandchildren.
Gord and Carol raised their family in Coquitlam, and when Gord retired from the Workers' Compensation Board (aka Worksafe BC) after a 35-year career, they made Surrey their home, where they lived until three years ago when they moved to The Wexford in Tsawwassen. An avid fisherman most of his life, Gord was also an athlete and known in his youth as "Bones" to his teammates. Over many decades, he played and coached soccer, softball and baseball. He served as the President of Coquitlam Babe Ruth and later became the BC Provincial Commissioner and then The Pacific Northwest Regional Commissioner of Babe Ruth League, Inc., which included a role as a Board Member of the Association.
He was presented with the Provincial Babe Ruth Roll of Honor and later was inducted into The Coquitlam Sports Hall of Fame and also had the prestigious honour of being inducted into the Babe Ruth League, Inc. Hall of Fame for his 45-plus years of service for the North American Association.
A Celebration of his Life will be at 1 pm, Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Coast Tsawwassen Inn, 1656 56th Street, Delta.
