

MAGEE (nee BONDEROFF), Helen Joyce, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 75 in Richmond, BC. Joyce was born on April 17, 1950, in Trail, BC, to Bill Bonderoff and Nellie Zaitsoff. She is predeceased by her parents, sister Mable, uncles John and Peter, aunts Alice, Vera, Helen, and Winnie, as well as cousins Leonard, Christopher, Paul, and Bob, and her ex-husband, Jim.
Joyce is lovingly remembered by her daughter Elizabeth and son James, partner Radyn Ryx, nephew Raymond McConkey, numerous cousins and their children, as well as many dear friends and fur-babies (cats).
Joyce became an operator with BC Tel in 1969 and continued with the company, later named Telus, in several capacities until she went on disability due to deteriorating health in the early 2000s, at which time she was a buyer managing contracts.
Joyce was a beautiful soul, kind, and generous to all. She enjoyed many hobbies and pursuits such as cooking, reading, tennis, computer games, and puzzles. She touched many lives with her love and generosity, expressing the wish in her final days that we all be kind to one another. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Avenue in Surrey, BC, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.
Another service will be held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel, 411 9th Avenue in Castlegar, BC, on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by interment in the Pass Creek Doukhobor Cemetery at 12:30 pm and a reception at the Bistro back in Castlegar at 2:00 pm.
