Our deepest condolences to the Schmidt family. Irene has touched many with the love, happiness, and comfort she has given to others.

Irene shared so much of life with you.  She will always be a part of you. Bonds like yours are forever. May the happy memories give you all peace and comfort.

Irene was a dear friend of mine for many years. She and I shared many cups of tea and so enjoyed our times together at Laronde Elementary volunteering.   Lowell, Irene, David and Amanda were our next door neighbours.  Our children were friends attending the same schools, enjoying each other’s swimming pools and playing in the cul de sac.  In later years, even though we moved away, Irene was always a great support when John was diagnosed and we were going through his illness.  I will never forget her wonderful hugs and talks of encouragement.
We both had an infinite love for our beloved Maui and I was blessed to spend time with her there, most recently in 2020.  

How I admired her positive outlook, her faith and her love for God.  We had some wonderful conversations and I miss her.

Irene Mary Schmidt was my cousin. When we were children her family often travelled from Ontario to Saskatchewan for summer visits with family who lived in Saskatchewan. I remember as these visits drew close excitement built. These visits were always full of good food and endless fun.
As adults busy with careers, then married live with our own children, visits were few; however, Christmas letters were sent and received to keep distant family members informed.  More recently Irene also took to phoning. 
Irene, whether in person or by phone revealed she was caring and loving. Family and friends were held in high esteem.  Irene showered her children, then her grandchildren with love.  Vacations in Hawaii with husband Lowell were enjoyed by both.
It is always difficult to say good-bye to a loved one; but, comfort will be found in loving memories and support from those who care for you and family members. May peace be found from the faith that lives within your hearts.

Irene was such a lovely person and we will all miss her.  This photo was taken in 2015.

I have many fond memories of Irene. She would always pause to have a quick chat whenever strolling around the Cul-de-sac that she so diligently and lovingly looked after.  She would often have a grin and a twinkle in her eye when asking if my brother Jeremy and I had been behaving ourselves. 
Irene was a great friend to all she met, and was so supportive of us when our Mum, Bev, passed away. She truly was the matriarch of our neighbourhood, and I wish her Family the deepest condolences.

Dear Amanda and family,

We are thinking of you and your family as you are about to remember and celebrate your mothers life.  We have fond memories of your mother. During our time of need your mother was a wonderful supportive friend to our family.  We will be away and not able to attend the Celebration of Life but will keep you in our thoughts as you gather with your friends and family.

I had no idea Irene was dealing with a rare cancer.
The last time I saw Irene was in Superstore a few years ago.  Our conversation was very brief, as she was in a rush & mentioned preparing to go to Hawaii.  Irene was going to plan a lunch when she returned from Hawaii, but sadly that never occurred.

Our times spent together helping at hot dog days/bake sales/ sports days etc. at our children’s school,  was always fun & rewarding!  

Irene was a very gentle, kind & compassionate soul.  She will be dearly missed!❤️

Mel and Wendy have known Irene and Lowell since our kids went to school together.  Our condolences go out to the entire Family, Lowell, David, Amanda & Raihan, grandchildren Beckett, Romy & Irene's siblings.
It was a devastating loss to see Irene struggle thru her battle with Cancer, but being  the trouper she was she fought her hardest to stay optimistic and to value the things that where important to her right up to the end.
 Irene,  was a beautiful caring loving person that would always lend a helping hand when needed, a good friend, and adored her family and the time spent with her grandchildren Beckett and Romy.

Irene was always such a positive and encouraging friend even though she was going through her own struggles.  My mom(whom also passed away from Ovarian cancer) gave me this poem and I think it is how Irene choose to live her life….
“I pass through this world but once.  If there is any good that I can do any kindness that I can show to any human being let me do it now, let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again….
