James T Pettie

Jim passed away peacefully on March 25, 2013 with his family by his side at the age of 89.

He will be greatly missed by Daughters Muriel (Jeff) Dowle, Dorothy (Bill) Glendinning, Son Cliff (Mary) Pettie, 9 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Jim was born in Tarbrax,Scotland. He was predeceased by wife Margaret in 2003, and by his parents, 7 brothers and 1 sister.

After WW11 and serving in the Royal Navy, Jim and Margaret immigrated to Kitimat BC in 1953 where they raised their family. In 1979 they retired to Chilliwack BC and enjoyed life traveling to many countries. Dad’s favourite was Spain. Camping was another of their passions, they saw North America in their truck and camper.

Jim also enjoyed time spent in his workshop making toys for the grandchildren, curling, golf, and the outings to the casino.

An active member of the Gyro's, and Freemasons, Jim made many friends throughout the community. He was one of the founding members of the Kitimat Presbyterian Church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Peace Arch Hospital

A service will be held at 2:00 PM on April 4, 2013 at White Rock Baptist Church, 1657 140th St. Surrey, BC V4A 4H1 .

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
