AMUNDSEN, Jeanne, passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital on Wednesday September, 15 with her family by her side.
Jeanne was born in Merritt as part of a large family. When Jeanne was still a young girl the family moved to Surrey. She had a lot of fond memories of her childhood, growing up on a farm, and her tom-boyish ways that she shared with her own children.
She had a great love for her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and nieces and nephews. They will all miss her warm hugs and beautiful smile.
Jeanne had a warm, generous spirit that drew many people to her for help. She gave her love freely and anything she possessed, she would give away in a moment’s notice if someone needed it. A true Christian, she loved her church and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years. She was talented in numerous crafts and her hands were always busy in creativity. She loved her garden and always looked forward to seeing her tulips bloom. She loved her elephants and her dream of seeing them in the wild came true when she went on a safari to Kenya with her family. Even the local Masai took to calling her “Mama.”
She was pre-deceased by her husband Roy, her parents Evelina and Wilfrid Boulanger, her in-laws Amalie and Konrad as well as her sisters and brothers Eva, Irene, Wilfrid, Leo, Phillipe, Phyllis and Johnny.
Devoted mother, grandmother and sister, she will be missed by her 6 children Lauretta (Dave), Diane, Steven, Norman, Eric, and Julie Anna, grandchildren Scott and Jason, brothers Tommy (Annie), Maurice and sisters Evelina, Helene (George), Marie Annette (Peter) and sister-in-law Judy.
Prayers will take place Thursday September 23, at 7:30 at the Parish St. Michael’s Church 9387 Holmes Street, Burnaby BC. Funeral mass will take place Friday September 24 10:30 at St. Michaels.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Vancouver General Hospital or St. Paul's Hospital Foundations.
